Bicester Road pavement works outside the Church

Following a re-evaluation of the work to update the pavement outside Church, it has been agreed that the Bicester Road will NOT be closed while the pavement works take place.

Instead, the carriageway nearest the pavement will be closed and the traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights from the bridge to the Spinney.

However, there will be two nights on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 July where the road WILL BE CLOSED OVERNIGHT from 8pm until 5am for the installation of new drainage outside the church gate and across the road.

We are sorry that there has been confusion about the date and the closure, but hope you’ll be able to bear with us while the work is done – we hope that it will be a great improvement and worth the wait.

Launton – 20mph Consultation

As many will know, the Parish Council applied for Oxfordshire County Council’s 20mph project in December 2021.

The County Council’s wider aim is to make our built environments safer and more attractive places to walk and cycle. To enable this, 20mph speed restrictions are being used to help promote alternative modes of transport for local travel. Further details on how the council is considering making 20mph the new 30mph for Oxfordshire communities can be found on OCC’s website..

We’re therefore asking for your views on the proposal to introduce a 20mph speed limit throughout Launton, replacing the existing 30mph speed limits in their entirety in the process. The proposals are being put forward following road safety concerns raised by the parish, and form part of a countywide programme of works that seeks to deliver ‘a safer place with a safer pace’ for the residents of Oxfordshire.

Please see the

Public Notice,
Statement of Reasons,
Consultation Plan(s), and
Draft Traffic Regulation Order .

The proposed Traffic Regulation Order is scheduled to be advertised in the Bicester Advertiser newspaper on Thursday 8 June 2023, and details are also available to view on the Councils consultation portal at the address below:

https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/launton_20mph2023

As stated on the notice, any objections or other representations on the proposal should be submitted by Friday 30th June 2023.
