20 is plenty in Launton

We have become aware that some vehicles driving through Launton are not observing the fact that our village now has a 20mph speed limit.

Villagers are able to report incidents to Thames Valley Police’s incident portal.
To those driving through, please be patient driving through Launton and recognise that overtaking cars which are already travelling at 20mph is dangerous to all and will not be tolerated.
If you’re just using Launton as a cut through, please do stop and support our pubs and shops sometimes – they’d welcome your custom.

Bus services through the village

We have been made aware of instances where the 17 bus between Aylesbury and Bicester has failed to come through the village.

If you have been unable to use the bus because it has not been available, we have been advised that you should contact the operators, Red Rose, directly – Office@redrosetravel.com  / 01296 747926 – with the exact details including:

  • the time of the scheduled bus
  • which bus stop including direction (ie towards Bicester or towards Aylesbury) and
  • how long you were waiting.

The Red Rose Company receives a subsidy from OCC to provide the service through Launton so OCC needs to know if this service isn’t being delivered – contact them on public.transport@oxfordshire.gov.uk.  Though problems should be reported to Red Rose first.

Do feel free to copy in the Parish Council (clerk@launton-pc.gov.uk) as well.  We will liaise with Oxfordshire County Council should problems persist.

Bicester Heritage January 2024 Scramble

Bicester Heritage will be opening their doors again on Sunday 7 January 2024.
